Educational Assessment
Careful assessment of the home with an exterminator respiratory mask and correct equipment helps draw information about the infestation whilst avoiding transmittable diseases. Identifying the initial reason for mice to get in (small openings, or cracks near the bottom of garage doors, or carried in with furniture) is essential to prevent further infestations. As for the mice population within the home, a torch providing different lights aids in identifying territorial urine marks, frequently used pathways, and droppings.
Mouse Extermination
An organized strategy of elimination (of current population) and prevention (of new mice coming in) can dispose of the mouse problem in your home. Combination of glue board traps and bait stations bring mice populations significantly down, especially when placed exploitively with an understanding of mice behaviour. The initial entry reasons cannot be ignored and must be blocked off, removed, or repaired in order to supress an infestation resurgence due to new intruders finding their way in.

Mouse Control Services
Get rid of mice with a professional mouse control service from Pest Solution Services, a pest control company with 10+ years of experience operating in the GTA. Mice usually grant themselves entry to homes through garage openings, openings between the closed garage door and pavement, and abandoned-open front or side doors. Commonly, in an infested home you find:
- droppings
- visible trail along walls
- scraping sounds within infested walls
When dealing with mice, a knowledgeable mouse/rat exterminator with the right tools is extremely important. Mice droppings and their nests are known to carry a number of diseases that can be harmful or deadly to humans. The nesting site and droppings of mice need extra precaution when being dealt with (droppings can transmit Salmonella).

Bird Feeder or Mouse Feeder?
Abandoned and messy birdfeeders in homeowner yards can pose as a "Welcome" sign for rodents. Your house becomes much more appealing to the rodent pests than any other house on the block, due to the easy food supply (seeds everywhere on the ground). Then, any nearby cracks and holes in your decks, patios, or stairways, are vectors of entry the mice and rats can exploit to settle in and share your house. If there is construction nearby, then the risk of an infestation increases even more. Birdfeeders need to be used with caution - they attract more than just birds.
A pest control assessment of your home can reveal these entry points (which are usually damaged parts of your property) and also help you understand how to avoid accidentally attracting unwanted rodents such as mice, rats, and squirrels. That is just the first step of a larger plan to make your home mouse-free, instead of mouse-friendly! Homeowner Mouse & Rat Prevention Strategy
The exterior of your home, including the roof, should be neat and free from damage; even crevices can be a problem. The yard should be kept free of litter and untrimmed conditons; even messy birdfeeders can attract mice. Leaving the door open and unattended for even a small period of time is also a big mistake.

Interior parts of your home should also be orderly, preventing nesting sites. Areas of the house that are less visited and have crevices should be well-kept. An example would be the small room found under some stairs, usually crammed with storage.

Sloppy kitchens can become a buffet for mice. Providing them food will allow them to thrive, multiply, and annoy you for a long time. Make sure that the entire house, and especially the kitchen, are very clean.

An organized garage interior will help you find mice before they make it in to your home. But how did they get in the garage to begin with? Pay attention to your garage exterior, especially the door. The weather strip of at the bottom of the large garage door might be teared, so when the door touches the pavement, there are still small gaps for the mice to crawl in.
